Thunder Road Contest Winners Named

 

ROCKWOOD – At the recent Thunder Road festival in Rockwood, several contests were held with the following winners:

Best Revenuer: Gerald Scarbrough

Best Moonshiner: Frank Davis

Best Daisy Duke Look-Alike: Summer Niles

People's Choice Award - quilts: Wilma Hembree - note: this quilt was made by Bob Hembree's great grandmother Dake. She dreamed the pattern and the next morning she started piecing the quilt. Edith Hembree, Bob's mother, said it had to be over 100 years old.

Best Moonshine Vehicle: 1939 Ford Coupe owned by Dan Gibbs. Gibbs has owned the car for 31 years - when he purchased it, the vehicle was modified and had been used to run moonshine in 15 gallon grape jugs.

Best Car Club (most attendees): Chickamauga Car Club with 21 cars

Fried Pies Baking contest:

1st  place: Carolyn Goddard
2nd place: Janice Webster
3rd  place: Rick Davenport
 
Stack Cakes baking contest:
1st  place: Janice Webster
2nd  place: Mary Johnston
 
Pie Baking Contest
1st place: Gennell Collett
