ROCKWOOD ROCKS!  STREET DANCE

 

ROCKWOOD – Rockwood 2000 will host a street dance in downtown Rockwood on Friday, June 10th from 5:30 pm to 11:00 pmOver The Hill Gang
   

Organizer Eddie Bilbrey, Rockwood 2000 explains, “There’ll be something for everyone.”  Beginning the evening at 5:30 pm, Rockwood’s Dudley Evans and his family will sing gospel music.  At 6:00 pm, the Over the Hill Gang from Crossville will lead in with bluegrass music.  The Over the Hill Gang features Rockwood’s own Sonny Collett on bass, Johnny Olson on the fiddle, Lonnie Daniels who plays the guitar, mandolin, banjo and fiddle, Bobby Wright on the guitar, and Gene Turner on banjo. 

 

Rockwood starts rockin’ at 7:00 pm with the headliners, The Sullivan Band of Dayton.  The Sullivan Band is composed of lead guitar and vocalist Matthew Sullivan, bass guitar and vocalist Jeremiah Sullivan, drummer Joshua Sullivan, pianist/vocalist Bobby Sullivan and Debbie Sullivan singing harmony.  The Sullivan Band is a rock ‘n roll band performing numbers from the 50’s and 60’s The Sullivan Bandto contemporary. 

 

Bilbrey adds “Tell people to bring folding chairs and come hungry.”  There will be barbecue by Piggs ‘R Us, hot dogs, hamburgers, and fried bologna by the Masonic Lodge, plus funnel cakes and soft drinks offered by Rockwood 2000.  All restaurants in the downtown area of Rockwood will be open until 8:00 pm for those who want a more formal meal.   

 

There is no charge for the street dance according to Rockwood 2000 President Judy Wassom.  “Rockwood 2000 has a goal of sponsoring events that celebrate community pride.  Rockwood is a wonderfully historic town in a beautiful setting.  The street dance offers the community an opportunity to get together and enjoy a variety of music and food.  Visitors are welcome to come and join us.  Rockwood rocks!”
