ROCKWOOD CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR FOR 2009
SCHEDULE OF CIVIL WAR REENACTMENT EVENTS

During the Civil War more battles and skirmishes took place in Tennessee than any other state except Virginia. Several of these armed encounters between Confederate and Union soldiers occurred in Roane County in and around the area where Rockwood is now located. After the War ended, Rockwood was founded by Union Brigadier General John Thomas Wilder an industrialist who returned to Roane County, formed the Roane Iron Company and built a company town that became known as Rockwood. The resulting City has the distinction of being the "prime example" of a reconstruction event that went well and was successful. During the Christmas Home Tour this year in Rockwood reenactment events scheduled for the edification of all interested individuals especially towns people, visitors, and students. All reenactment events are coordinated by the Sons of Confederate Veterans, William A. Hamby Camp 1750 headquartered in Crossville, TN.
